Eduardo Almeida Soares, Explainable-by-design Deep Learning, 100% supervision, March 2022, funded by Ford, now Senior Research Scientist with IBM; awarded 2023 Outstanding Doctoral Dissertation Award

Xiaowei Gu, 2018, Self-Organising Transparent Learning Systems, 100% supervision, now Senior Lecturer (Associate Professor) at University of Surrey; awarded 2020 Outstanding Doctoral Dissertation Award The award was presented at the World Congress on Computational Intelligence WCCI-2020 and the list of awardees started with Yoshua Bengio and ended with Xiaowei Gu.
